Description

This well painted watercolour portrait shows a boy wearing a blue velvet suit and a shirt with a wide collar. He has a striking peaked cap and rather dainty shoes trimmed with little bows. He stands in an atmospheric moorland landscape with a distant view of the sea (reminiscent of the Whitby area) with a small flock of grazing sheep visible.

Unsigned but clearly by a competent hand. In fine condition and presented in a period giltwood frame with a decorative edge and a beaded outer border.
