Description

This is a rare collector's set of four silver coffee spoons, with enamelled finials depicting the four playing card suits. Most likely designed to accompany bridge or whist parties, these were made by silversmiths Turner and Simpson, Birmingham, assayed in 1949/50. They have stylised, ionic capitals and moulded decoration above the bowls. They are very lightly gilded. These are in very good antique condition, with no damage to either the enamel or the silver. There is one tiny casting mark on the shaft of the diamond spoon. The hallmarks are clear and crisp. [Please note that there are reflections in the images.]
