Description

A quality late Victorian silver vesta case with clear hallmarks for Birmingham 1900 and makers mark for William M Hayes. The vesta case front and back are decorated with sumptuous swirls of foliage framed by a double houndstooth edging. The striker is clean and sharp. The front bears a vacant shield. The back has the usual concave shape to fit in a breast pocket. The lid and interior are gilt lined, a sign of quality. In excellent condition.
