Description

"Dr. Livingstone I presume" was a phrase instantly familiar to every schoolchild of fifty years ago ~ This Late 19th Century Antique Scottish Victorian Commemorative Pottery Dish, here attributed to Bo'ness Pottery of Falkirk,  was produced following the explorer's famous meeting with Henry Morton Stanley on 10th November 1871. Missionary work and exploration now having fallen from grace, items of this sort are sadly nowadays rather out of fashion. Nevertheless, an interesting and unusual item, rarely encountered in today's marketplace.
