Description

Technical Description
An 18th century ale glass, with a funnel bowl. It has a cushion knop above a baluster knop and sits on a conical folded foot.
Date & Origin
England, c1780. Period of George III.
Condition
Excellent, age-related wear as shown.
Dimensions
Height: 12.8cm
Rim Diameter: 5.3cm
Foot Diameter: 8.5cm.
Historical Relevance
The heavy lead glass and deep hue are indicative of its origin and period. Hand-blown around the time South Carolina became the first state to ratify the Articles of Confederation, and around the death of Captain James Cook on the 14th of February 1779.
