Muriel Metcalfe 1910-1994.Muriel was a painter of portraits and figure studies,especially children and landscapes,mainly in watercolour,pastel and pen and wash.Born at Leyburn,in Wensleydale,Yorkshire.Studied at the School of Art in Newcastle upon Tyne(Armstrong College)Married the painter Fred Lawson.Exhibited at the RA,RI and many exhibitions inYorkshire.Among the public collection of her work are Wakefield and Leeds.She lived at Castle Bolton near Redmire. ‘Study of Young Boy’ signed ink and watercolour;framed size 50x39.5 cms
