Alfred Vickers 1785-1868.Landscape painter.A self taught artist whose light and sparkling style has been compared to Boudin.Exhib at RA 1831-68,BI (125 works) and SS.Painted English views,especially river scenes,in a rapid sketchy style,using a range of pale greens which is very distinctive.His son Alfred Gomersal Vickers was also an artist. ‘Horse and Cart crossing the River’ signed watercolour,dated 1866,image size 29.5x48.5 cms,framed size 52x71.5 cms.Modern giltwood frame
