Description
An early Victorian silver quarter pint tankard or christening mug with clear hallmarks for London 1846, Victoria’s head, and makers mark for Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater. This silver tankard has been made in the classic Georgian style, still current in the early years of Queen Victoria’s reign. The tankard has an outward slanting form, with ringed bands around the base, body and top. The handle is also in keeping, with a flat thumb rest and scrolling detail below. In excellent condition, no damage or dents. The tankard holds a quarter pint of liquid. The size makes it a suitable christening gift but it is also collectible. Weight 3oz/100gr.
