Description

Rare & Beautiful 140 Year Old Victorian Antique Oak Court Cupboard. Made in England during the reign of Queen Victoria in around 1880 to a beautiful standard. The wonderful moulded edged top with deep heavily carved frieze over a central carved panel cupboard of geometric design with rare pierced carved column supports. The base fitted with two short drawers with panelled carved fronts and brass pull handles over two heavily carved cupboard doors enclosing shelves. A wonderful feature of this piece is the secret lockable compartment in the frieze section of the top. All raised on a plinth base with squat feet. Made to beautiful proportions, It will stand proud in any room.

A wealthy owner likely employed the services of cabinet make during the Victorian period to create a more impressive piece of furniture from a more simplistic 17th century court cupboard.
