Description

This large Victorian String Box or pot, dates to circa 1860 and I think because of its size would probably have been used either in a retail or office environment. Its cylindrical form sits on a turned hexagonal base topped with a turned screw on lid. It is made from a truly wonderful rich coloured wood which has with the passing of years garnered a glorious patina.
AGE - Circa 1860
CONDITION - The String Box is in good condition and has acquired over its many years a beautiful patina. There is a chip to the wood on the top of the rim of the pot (best seen in the eighth photo), but this does not appear to effect the screwing on and off the the lid in any way and when the lid is on it is not seen. There are also the finest of splits to the varnish on the lid which can best be seen in the final photo.
