Available for sale is an original rare Rag and Bone merchant.- The Paper Mill, hand-coloured woodcut and letterpress poster, 640 x 510 mm (25 x 20 in), Produced by Printer/Publisher: Samuel Reeves, 13 Caledonian Road, Kings Cross, London, N.1. Poster advertising a Rag buyer, , picture taking up the whole sheet, showing Old Mother Shipton dressed in a witch's hat, cat on her shoulder, standing in front of a Rag Merchant's shop, with husband and wife and child bringing bundles into the shop. Woodcut in very bold thick black lines, with very bright colour printing giving the appearance of uneven hand-colouring (possibly hand-blocked). Published and printed by Samuel Reeves, 13 Caledonian Road, King's Cross, London c1890. Such posters are interesting both for their early often woodcut typography and their cure-all promises. . rolled for delivery unframed are in pretty amazing condition ** This has been displayed in a frame as per this sites 'rules' via Photoshop hence the remaining chewed edges. When framed add a thin mount** CONDITION ISSUES edge soiling and small tears will press out well plus a small tear in the blue area all indicated. More copies available ?
