Inlaid mahogany box in excellent condition. No shrinkage splits. No missing or replaced veneer. Original inlaid brass cartouche and escutcheon. Original hinges and lock with a replacement working key. The interior has velvet panels to the lid and base. The solid mahogany panel is I believe a later *addition and can simply be lifted out and replaced to suit requirements. The panel has 12 recesses each 4.2cm diameter, approximately 4mm depth. Possibly used to display pocket watches or medals or coins? The lid interior depth is 1.5cm. The base depth is approximately 2.1 cm without the recessed panel……1.2cm with recessed panel. A box that lends itself for a wide range of uses.
