Antique late 19th-century pair of porcelain figurines by Triebner, ENS & Eckert, c. 1894
This elegant pair of antique Volkstedt porcelain figurines depicts a young couple in a pastoral setting, dressed in 18th-century attire. The young woman holds a basket of grapes, while the gentleman presents a garland of flowers. These pieces reflect the Rococo style popular at the time, featuring delicate features, intricate floral patterns, and exceptional hand-painted detailing.
The figurines are mounted on decorative bases with gilt accents and scrollwork, exemplifying the high-quality craftsmanship of Volkstedt porcelain. One base bears the company mark (a single pitchfork with a sun), while the other has a worn mark.
Historical background:
The Volkstedt porcelain factory, established in 1767, became renowned for its luxurious figurines and decorative items under Triebner, ENS & Eckert in the late 19th century. As one of Germany’s oldest porcelain manufacturers, Volkstedt contributed significantly to the tradition of fine porcelain.
