Description
Antique late 19th-century pair of porcelain figurines by Triebner, ENS & Eckert, c. 1894 This elegant pair of antique Volkstedt porcelain figurines depicts a young couple in a pastoral setting, dressed in 18th-century attire. The young woman holds a basket of grapes, while the gentleman presents a garland of flowers. These pieces reflect the Rococo style popular at the time, featuring delicate features, intricate floral patterns, and exceptional hand-painted detailing. The figurines are mounted on decorative bases with gilt accents and scrollwork, exemplifying the high-quality craftsmanship of Volkstedt porcelain. One base bears the company mark (a single pitchfork with a sun), while the other has a worn mark. Historical background: The Volkstedt porcelain factory, established in 1767, became renowned for its luxurious figurines and decorative items under Triebner, ENS & Eckert in the late 19th century. As one of Germany’s oldest porcelain manufacturers, Volkstedt contributed significantly to the tradition of fine porcelain. Pieces like these were often commissioned for the homes of Europe’s elite, making them highly collectible today.
