Description

A beautifully rustic stoneware pot from 19th century rural France.
Featuring a soft glazed finish and sturdy carrying handle.
Known as rillette or confit pots, pieces such as this would have originally been used to preserve slow-cooked meats such as duck and rabbit by filling the top of the pot with a layer of solid fat.
Perfect for use as a planter or for holding utensils - great for rustic farmhouse décor.
Height 24 cm; Diameter 24.5 cm
In good rustic condition with wear and tear appropriate for age and use. May display imperfections, nibbles to the edges and some crazing from the firing process but no cracks.
