Antique late 19th-century Ernst Bohne & Söhne porcelain figurines This rare pair of antique porcelain figurines by Ernst Bohne & Söhne (EBS), Rudolstadt, features two children carrying toddlers on their shoulders. These hand-painted pieces exemplify the fine craftsmanship typical of late 19th-century German porcelain, with lifelike expressions, detailed clothing folds, and naturalistic bases in earthy tones. Each base is marked with the blue anchor mark of EBS, an impressed company stamp, and the numbers 12, 3902, and 21. Historical background: Ernst Bohne established the Rudolstadt factory in 1848. The company became renowned for its detailed figurines and innovative overglaze painting techniques. EBS produced a wide range of porcelain, including biscuit figurines, Capo di Monte-style pieces, and Dresden-style porcelain. Their work gained international recognition, with exhibits at major events like the 1851 Great Exhibition in London and the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris.
