Description
An antique and rare pair of porcelain figural candlesticks, created in Germany in the last quarter of the 19th century. They feature figurines depicting pastoral scenes. The figures are dressed in Rococo-style clothing with hand-painted details, including floral patterns. The bases are adorned with intricate scrollwork, while the tops are decorated with palm leaves in pastel shades. These decorative candlesticks are a fine example of the romantic style often associated with German manufacturers of that period. The craftsmanship is of very high quality, ensuring that these pieces were produced by one of the finest German porcelain companies. However, we have encountered difficulties in attributing these remarkable candlesticks. The issue is that the maker’s mark on the base of the candlesticks could not be found in reference books. A similar mark was used for a short period by the Conte & Böhm factory, but the style of these pieces differs from their typical designs. The candlesticks also closely resemble the work of another renowned German manufacturer—Sitzendorf—but if that were the case, why is their mark not present on the base? Regardless, it is clear that German porcelain manufacturers have always been popular worldwide, and their works have consistently remained in demand among both collectors and fine art enthusiasts. Dimensions: height 21 cm, width 10 cm, depth 8 cm, total weight 1061 grams. Condition: minimal chipping on a few petals, visible only under magnification; slight loss of gilding; traces of white paint visible at the junction of the upper and lower parts of the candlestick. Excellent preservation of paint and enamel, otherwise in outstanding condition. Please carefully review the accompanying photographs, as they form an integral part of this description. If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them. The item will be shipped with full tracking and insurance. It is important to note that the shipping cost includes labor, packaging, and postage.
