Description
A stunning George III tea caddy in quarter veneered mahogany and amboyna timber, c1800. The unusual geometric pattern of the veneer gives this tea caddy a distinctive appearance. A beautiful and unique example of a Georgian tea caddy with unusual quarter veneered decoration to all four sides and the lid. The lid has a brass ring pull type handle. The lock and catch are present but there is no key. The brass escutcheon is a replacement. It would have had internal compartments but these are no longer there - you can see where a divider would have been - and there are some remnants of the original lining. Condition: The condition overall is excellent. The veneer is all intact. There is a small gap when the lid shuts as you can see in the photos. The handle must have been a bit loose at some point as it has left a ring where it’s rubbed against the top - it doesn’t turn in a circle now. UK delivery is included in the price - if you would like a quote for delivery elsewhere, or if you would like to collect the item yourself, please get in touch. This is an antique item and as such may have signs of wear in accordance with its age. Anything that we think is of note will have been mentioned above, but please study the photos carefully to satisfy yourself as to its condition as it is not possible to list every little mark or flaw. We are happy to provide high resolution photographs or videos if required, and answer any questions you may have - just get in touch! We accept returns for all items providing the item is returned in the same condition as when it was sent. The cost of any return postage or delivery is the responsibility of the buyer, unless the item has arrived damaged or has not been described accurately.
