Description

A fine design from an exceptional silver maker, Hilliard and Thomason, this silver caddy spoon has a naturalistic twisted tendril handle and a fluted silver gilt bowel applied with foliage and fruit decoration. For an identical example, see ‘Caddy Spoons, An Illustrated Guide’; by John Norrie, plate 57d. In 1851, Hilliard and Thomason exhibited at The Grand International Exhibition in London.
The silver caddy spoon presents H & T, the Lion passant, the Birmingham assay mark, and date letter 'G' for 1855.
