A detailed architectural pencil sketch showing the north tower of Fountains Abbey from the south-west. Known as Huby's Tower, the structure rises above ruined cloisters and overgrown arches, with one small figure in the foreground to evoke scale. This drawing reflects the Romantic tradition of the mid-19th century, sharing stylistic similarities with artists such as Frederick Mackenzie and Henry Gastineau, who recorded Britain's crumbling ecclesiastical heritage in soft graphite and white highlights.
