Description

A handsome early silver wine label for Gin. This charming example has a rectangular body with reeded edging and squared corners. The word Gin is engraved in 'pricked' capitals. The hallmark is unusual, as the Duty mark is for King William IV and the date letter is for 1839 - two years after the King had died and Queen Victorian had acceded to the throne. Known as a 'transitional' piece, this is an interesting and collectable item with a practical use. Dimensions below.
