Description

A lovely Victorian oak writing slope with brass corners, brass strapping and a matching brass shield shaped cartouche and escutcheon.
Inside, the box is fitted with a leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge. It comes with a brass topped glass inkwells and a pen tray beside a small stamp slope. There is a secret compartment with 2 small hidden drawers below the leather surface that springs open by lifting a piece of wood next to the inkwell.
The box is in very good condition for its age with a beautiful patina. The leather writing surface is showing some signs of age and is worn along the crease but still looks good inside the box and is very usable. There are some minor old knocks and marks around the outside of the box but nothing detrimental and overall it displays beautifully.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
