Description
A very stylish early 19th century bone china porcelain milk jug of baluster form with flared shaped rim and spout and raised fluted strap handle. Striking ornate hand gilded decoration centring around a deep border of diaper pattern diamonds, each with a dot in the centre, sandwiched between a pair of wide gilded bands. A rather playful frieze of feathered scrolls and arabesques runs around the neck, with a stylised acanthus leaf to the back of the handle and gilt bands around the foot, down the sides of the handle and running just inside and outside of the rim. Green wreath and crown mark to the base, c.1838-1840. It measures 14.2cm (5 5/8") high, 10.2cm (4") wide and 12.1cm (4 3/8") spout to handle. It is a good practical size, easily holding 500ml to the narrowing of the neck. In excellent condition with no damage or repair and very minor handling wear. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay card payments by Stripe rather than Paypal, please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported by Klarna.
