Description

A rare and good quality large pearlware pottery blue and white English meat platter with a gravy well c.1800-1810. The pattern is called 'Fishermen and Castle' and it is from an unidentified factory. On the reverse there is an impressed number 18 and also a small blue and white cross. The platter is in very good condition with a clear bright transfer pattern. There is a pale light strip down the middle of the platter in the photos, this is the indentation of the first part of the gravy well and not on the transfer. A wonderful piece, worthy of the best English pottery blue & white collections. The condition is very good, with some age related wear to the the feet on the reverse (see image). It measures 38cm length x 35cm high.
