Description
This Black Forest Ink Blotter, would date to circa 1910 and would have been a much needed item at this time, but also I am sure a much loved item in the study with the adorable carved bear that stands on the rocker. His face is so sweet with those two tiny dark eyes which I believe to be glass. And I love the form of his strong rounded body, he is finely carved and a wonderful mixture of both strength and gentleness. The blotting paper would have been wrapped around the curved base of the blotter and held in place by the two pegs at either end on the top of the rocker. * AGE - Circa 1910 * CONDITION - this dear little chap is in very good condition. There are no splits to the wood that I can see. The end of his nose appears to be a little lighter than the rest of him which I think maybe intentional and can best be seen in the third photo. The two pegs that hold in the blotting paper are still in place and fit well, although I confess I have not tried to place some blotting paper in the Blotter myself. His eyes maybe a little dirty, but to be honest I wonder again if that is intentional as bright shiny eyes would detract from the softness of his face. * DIMENSIONS (Approx) - Height 3&1/4" / 8.5cm, Width 5" / 12.5cm, Depth 2" / 5cm * POSTAGE - £9.00 UK I send my items both Tracked & Signed For with Royal Mail’s Special Delivery Service.
