Description
A finely modelled and delicately hand-painted porcelain figurine depicting a young flower seller. She carries a tray and a basket brimming with lifelike porcelain blooms, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship. The underside bears a blue underglaze mark — specifically, the Ludwigsburg manufactory’s mark. We do not claim this piece to have been produced by the original Ludwigsburg factory. In our opinion, this fine figurine was created by the Dressel, Kister & Cie manufactory in the early 20th century. In 1903, Dressel, Kister & Cie acquired around 350 original moulds from the defunct Höchst manufactory, and began reproducing 18th-century figures with astonishing accuracy. Some bore historic factory marks — including that of Ludwigsburg — leading even seasoned collectors to mistake them for originals. Legal action in 1904 forced the company to cease the use of such marks. Founded in 1840 in Passau, Bavaria, Dressel, Kister & Cie became well known for its Rococo-style figurines and doll heads, supplying clients in London and Paris. In 1922, the factory was absorbed into the Aelteste Volkstedter porcelain works, one of Thuringia’s oldest manufactories. Height: 15.5 cm Condition: professional overpainting to neck and arms; otherwise in excellent antique condition. Please study the accompanying photographs carefully as they form an integral part of this description. If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them. The item will be shipped with full tracking and insurance. It is important to note that shipping costs include labour, packaging and postage.
