Description

A fine quality antique Victorian wooden monaural stethoscope. This medical item would have been used by a doctor before binaural stethoscopes were introduced. This type of scope is still used today to listen to the heartbeats of unborn babies. This type of one ear scope was invented in 1816 by Rene Laennec. It is made from ebony and mahogany.

Wear commensurate with age and use.
