Description

Ebony and hallmarked solid silver walking stick or cane with a fabulous amethyst sphere pommel.
The colour and pattern in the pommel is exceptional as you can see in the pictures.
The shaft is well sized in width and length so will support a good weight.
The silver was assayed in London as shown in the pictures, date letter for 1920 and makers mark for James Smith & Sons Ltd, New Oxford Street, London, established in 1830 and still trading today. Their canes are super quality as you'll see if you take a look at the web site. Trumpet shaped silver collar that the pommel sits into.
It measures 91 cm 35 13/16 inches in length, the pommel is 4.6 cm 1 13/16 inches wide.
The ferrule is made of brass and steel.
It's in excellent condition with only minor signs of age and use as you'd expect at this age.
The stone is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
Some surface marks to the silver including one line knock as shown but no holes or splits.
The shaft is excellent with no breaks or repairs.
