Description

Antique silver Omega pocket watch and chain.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, identified as by Omega, which is working nicely. To confirm that it is indeed an Omega movement, there is a brevet number underneath the dial, CH8760, which relates to an 1894 application in the name of Louis Brandt, founder of Omega.
In confirmation by Jérôme Jr Monnat, CEO of West End Watch Company, “West End Watch was purchasing watches bearing its brand name from several historical brands such as Longines, Cyma, Tissot, Mido, Omega, IWC, Aubry, etc.”
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover… there are a couple of scratches to this inner cover.
The watch measures 42mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and there are Continental marks inside both of the case backs for 935 silver. The front and back of the case have engine turned detail. The front of the case is in lovely condition. There is a small indentation to the side of the case and unevenness and rubbing to the hinged case back.
The acrylic lens is in good condition.
The dial is signed West End Watch Co, Sowar, Prima. The name Sowar was registered by the West End Watch Co for watches destined for India and the Far East. The name Prima was added for the shockproof and waterproof models... although, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water. The dial is in its original finish with blued steel original hands. It is in beautiful condition.
The watch comes with a single silver chain, 28cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. Hallmarked for 1915, with a maker’s mark for the Birmingham silversmith William Walter Cashmore. Each of the long links has the silver lion mark. The chain weighs 28g.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us for international shipping prices.
Due to changes in EU regulations, including Northern Ireland, we no longer ship to these destinations.
For other countries, The Vintage Wrist Watch Company operates on a Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU) basis which means that the international buyer is responsible for any import duties, taxes & customs which may be necessary to release an order from international customs. Tax and import duty varies from country to country so we recommend you check with your local tax office to see if any fees will be payable. If the customer refuses to pay any duty and customs charges and the parcel is returned to sender all shipping and associated charges will be deducted from any refund.
Due to Customs regulations, we are unable to send watches / precious metals to certain countries. If you are unsure about your country’s regulations, please contact us and we can check for you. Any orders from prohibited countries will be refunded, less any Paypal fees which are non-refundable.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
