Description
These scissors are I believe German dating to the end of the 1800s, circa 1880, and were most likely originally used as sewing or embroidery scissors. The handles are made from brass and the blades I believe are steel. The faces are truly wonderful, not mirror images of each other but very slightly different, each one seems to have a quiff on top of their heads or maybe it is a horn. There are no makers marks on the scissors but they really do appear to be of very fine quality with a lovely weight to them. * AGE - Circa 1880 * CONDITION - The scissors are in good condition. There is a small area of what I think is rust to the blade on one side which can best be seen in the fifth photo. The handles appear to be not quite level but maybe they have always been this way as they feel in no way loose to the central pivot. And of course there is wear to the metal as one would expect with the many years that have been handled. I haven't tried to cut material with them but I did make a small cut in some paper with them and they still seemed sharp. * DIMENSIONS (Approx) - Length 5&1/2" / 14cm, Width Closed 2" / 5cm * POSTAGE - £5.00 UK Due to the lower cost of this item, I have quoted for Royal Mail's Tracked 24 Service. I am happy to ship items to overseas buyers, please contact me prior to buying with address details and I will forward a quote deducting the cost of UK postage. Overseas customers will be responsible for any customs charges incurred. * RETURNS - If for any reason you are not happy with your purchase, just let me know as soon as possible and return the item to me within 14 days of receipt and I will offer a full refund if the item is returned in the same condition it was sent, the cost of return postage will be incurred by the customer.
