Description

An exquisite pair of mid Victorian etched glass rinsers. Rinsers or coolers were used for chilling or rinsing wine glasses at the table, between courses. One per person would be placed on the table, facilitating the repeated use of the same glass for different wines.
Later it became more common to have a different glass for each wine. Although it's original use is no longer relevant, the rinser can be a lovely collector's item and has a practical use as a bowl. These beautiful examples have star etching with a patterned band above and polished pontils to the bases.
