Description

A rare miniature Wedgwood lustre cup designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones, c.1915, pattern Z4829. Exterior in Mixed-Blue Lustre with pale stainings and blue mottling, decorated with hand-gilded serpentine creatures and Oriental motifs; interior in Mother-of-Pearl Lustre with a striking central gilt dragon and gilt border. Makeig-Jones’s early Ordinary Lustres marry iridescent color with fantastical subjects, anticipating her celebrated Fairyland series.
Size: height 4 cm, diameter 6 cm
Condition: excellent antique condition.
