Description
Massive oversize mahogany wood and hallmarked silver walking stick or cane with a Tagua sphere top. The silver was assayed in London as shown in the pictures, date letter for 1929. The makers mark for Kendall & Sons Ltd of Holborn Barrs, London. Lovely tagua nut pommel grown on the elephant plant, native to South America, and set into a silver cylinder collar. The collar is over sized and engraved with " W Burton Dec 23rd 1929". Mounted on an mahogany wood shaft which is really heavy taking the cane to 610 grams in total. It measures 89.2 cm 35 1/8 inches in length, the pommel is 5 cm 2 inches wide, the silver collar is 5.1 cm 2 inches long. Below the silver the shaft is 2.8 cm 1 1/8 inches wide. The ferrule is original and made of brass and steel. It's in excellent condition but with some signs of age and use as you'd expect at this age. Some light bumps and surface marks to the silver as shown but no holes or splits. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
