Description

Here is one of my favourite etchings by Charles John Watson of Chelsea. It is signed in the plate by the artist, lower left, and dated 1879. It is reminiscent of Whistler's London series and there are many landmarks in the etching of the North bank of the Thames including Chelsea Old Church. It is framed by a modern black frame which measures about 13 by 16 1/2 inches. The visible portion of the etching appears to be in good condition with no tears and strong contrast. Some foxing spots especially around two old hinges in the upper portion of the plate (please see photos). I will ship this lovely etching with its glass for free within the UK.
