Description
Pair of Early 20th Century Austrian Ceramic Monk Figures – Mould Nos. 1260 & 1261 A good pair of early 20th century Continental ceramic monk figures, likely Austrian, each robed in brown with gilded details and holding a tankard in one hand. Moulded with charming expression and well-observed folds to the robes, they are numbered to the reverse 1260 and 1261, indicating production models from a Central European maker, c.1900–1920. The figures are finely executed in glazed earthenware, with gilt decoration to the keys, belts, and steins. The overall modelling is crisp and characterful without being overtly comic. Heights: approx. 16 cm and 17 cm Condition: One with a minor nibble to the foot (1260) and a small chip near the base; otherwise both in good decorative order with some wear to the gilding All items offered by Treasure Trove Worcester Ltd are carefully selected for their authenticity, decorative appeal, and period character. We specialise in antique and vintage pieces sourced with a knowledgeable eye, and we aim to provide accurate descriptions and detailed photographs for every item. Our stock is available to view by appointment at our Worcester showrooms, and we are happy to provide further information or additional images on request.
