Description
Antique Anglo-Indian Silver Belt Buckle c.1900 A decorative late 19th to early 20th century Anglo-Indian silver belt buckle, cast in two interlocking parts with finely detailed repoussé and pierced work throughout. The design features a pair of opposing mounted warriors in stylised armour, each riding a galloping horse within a richly worked landscape of palm trees, birds, and floral motifs. Of unmarked silver or silvered white metal over a copper-based alloy, with traces of green oxidation to the lower edge and reverse, consistent with age. The clasp mechanism is intact and functional. To the reverse is a scratched or engraved name, Angela Darkin, suggesting this may have been a personalised accessory, perhaps for a nurse or lady in uniform during the late Victorian or Edwardian period. Likely of Indian or Burmese origin, produced during the British colonial period for domestic use or export. Width: 12 cm Height: 7.5 cm Weight: 93g Good decorative condition with some surface wear, tarnish and minor oxidation. All items offered by Treasure Trove Worcester Ltd are carefully selected for their authenticity, decorative appeal, and period character. We specialise in antique and vintage pieces sourced with a knowledgeable eye, and we aim to provide accurate descriptions and detailed photographs for every item. Our stock is available to view by appointment at our Worcester showrooms, and we are happy to provide further information or additional images on request.
