Description
Gorgeous Georgian Spode bone china coffee cup and saucer, in the London shape, decorated with a bold oriental pattern in a simple imari palette of green and iron red enamel, underglaze blue and lots of gilt ornamentation. Peony flowers, chrysanthemums, bamboo and other exotic stylised flowers and foliage. The entire inside of the cup is decorated as well as the outside, a further testament to the skill of these artists, and both pieces are finished with thick gilt rims and sides of the handle, finished with a stylised acanthus leaf. Both pieces marked SPODE in red enamel and the cup also bears the pattern number 2215, c.1815. The cup measures 7.3cm (2 7/8") rim to rim and 6.3cm (2 1/2") high to the rim. The saucer measures 14cm (5 1/2") wide. In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration and minimal handling wear. *Please note: orders placed now will be processed on the 7th September.
