Description
This Albert Chain features subtle graduated curb links, a T-bar and a double dog clip fastening, measuring a wearable length of 16.5", modelled in sterling silver. This chain is hallmarked with the Lion mark on every link. The dog clips, T-bar, and chain links are all original to the chain and date back to Chester, 1924. An Albert chain is a decorative chain initially used to attach a pocket watch to the wearer's clothing. The chain was named after Prince Albert, who was said to have been fond of wearing watch chains. The Dog clip would have been used to attach a pocket watch or fob, and the T-Bar would go through the buttonhole of a waistcoat to secure it in place. Today, these are worn as necklaces, and the clips can also be used to hang pendants or charms.
