Description

A lovely and rare Georgian Jacobite cup bowl Rummer, wheel-engraved with a sunflower, honeysuckle and a jaybird in flight.
The Sunflower is a nod to Louis XIV, giving King James exile (The Sun King). Honeysuckle stands for loyalty, as the leaves are in pairs. The Jaybird stands also for King James fleeing, and hopeful return.
Dimensions: Height: c.3.75 inches. Diameter: c.3 inches. (9.5 x 7.6 cm).
Date: c.1780.
Condition: Undamaged, no chips, scratches or cracks.
