Description
Set of Eleven Volumes – Works of Captain Frederick Marryat – Routledge Edition, Late 19th Century A decorative uniform part set of eleven works by Captain Frederick Marryat (1792–1848), published by George Routledge and Sons, London & New York, circa 1870s–1880s. Bound in blue cloth with gilt and black decoration to the spines and boards, each volume with an engraved frontispiece. The set comprises: Newton Forster, Japhet in Search of a Father, Jacob Faithful, The Dog Fiend, Percival Keene, The Poacher, Rattlin the Reefer, The Pacha of Many Tales, Peter Simple, Mr Midshipman Easy, and The Phantom Ship. Each volume measures approximately 11.5 × 17.5 cm. Condition: The bindings show rubbing and wear, particularly at the spine ends and corners. Some staining and marks to the cloth. Internally, age-toned with foxing to prelims and scattered throughout. A slight musty odour from age and storage. Overall, a sound and decorative Victorian set. All items offered by Treasure Trove Worcester Ltd are carefully selected for their authenticity, decorative appeal, and period character.
