Description
A good example of a Victorian sterling silver Christening spoon in its original box. It is an excellent quality piece with ornate engraved decoration covering the bowl and handle. The cartouche has never been engraved with initials. The spoon is clearly hallmarked for London, 1872 and the maker Chawner & Co. It weighs approximately 30g. It is in excellent condition. There are some faint surface marks but no major damages and it has been lightly cleaned and polished. The spoon comes in its original silk and velvet lined box with an original paper retailer's label below the lid for "Daniel Todd. Goldsmith, Watch Maker & Jeweller, 6&9 Argyll Arcade, Glasgow". The box is in good condition and the interior is very clean and tidy. There are a few minor marks and scuffs around the outside edges but nothing detrimental. Approximate Measurements : Length : 6" (15.5cm) Bowl : 2" x 1 1/4" / 5 x 3cm The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
