Description
A charming early 19th century pearlware figure group by John Walton, the "Songsters" with a gentleman and his wife set on a tiered grassy mound with a small dog by the side of the man and a swan nestled further down. The lady plays a lute and the man originally would have held a small horn. The "Walton" scroll mark is to the reverse. Decorated in the round in bright enamels. The group measures 19cm (7 1/2") high, 12.5cm (4 7/8") wide and 9.5cm (3 3/4") deep. In good condition: the horn originally held in the gentleman's left hand has been lost and his arm has been professionally repaired and re-touched so he now appears to be dancing. There would have been a raised bocage at the back which has been lost and the base has been sensitively restored in this area. Otherwise, there is a small repair across the lady's right arm and she is missing the very tips of her fingers and there is a small chip to the tip of the dog's ear. A couple of very small glaze/enamel losses and missing a small clump of shredded clay on the base. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay card payments by Stripe rather than Paypal, please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported by Klarna.
