Description
Antique silver Zenith pocket watch, 1913. The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement, identified as by Zenith, which is working nicely. The movement carries the Zenith serial number 1,480,434 which dates it back to 1913. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has the wording, ‘Grand Prix Paris 1900’. Zenith won the prestigious Grand Prix Paris 1900 award at the Paris Universal Exposition for its high-precision pocket watches. This "Grand Prix Paris 1900" designation became a significant part of Zenith's history, and the award was often engraved on the inside of its watches as a mark of excellence. The inner cover has some unevenness. The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is 800 silver and there are Continental marks inside both of the case backs. The case also has rose gold wash detail, this combination is known as galonne. There is some rubbing to the wash. The acrylic lens is in good condition. The dial has Breguet style hands and numbers. There are some hairline cracks but they are very faint, and you have to look quite carefully to see them. The watch comes in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland). Please contact us regarding international shipping. All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch. We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations. Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers. We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
