Description

A beautiful Pilkingtons Royal Lancastrian 'elephants foot' shape vase dating from the early 20th century with a beautiful blue and teal glaze. It has an impressed Pilkingtons mark to the base, and the number 2887. A really lovely piece of vintage art pottery.
Condition: The vase has a couple of small chips - one on the foot, one on the body - and a flaw in the glaze on the neck. There is also a pinprick flaw on the body. I have tried to show these in the photos. The vase has crazing to the glaze, and one of the crazing lines has a slight step in it when you run your fingernail over it, and I think may have actually developed into a hairline crack as the vase doesn’t sound quite right when you tap it, and I can’t see anything else that could be causing this. I can’t however see inside the vase to see if it has transferred all the way through to the inside. Nethertheless this is a beautiful vase, and these flaws are reflected in the price.
