Description
Provence, in the south-eastern region of France is known for its sun-drenched lavender and olive groves, and this original signed pastel by Lionel Aggett beautifully captures the landscape. Lionel Aggett (1938 - 2009) was a landscape painter, muralist, architect and writer. He was born in Whiddon Down, Devon and educated at Exeter School. Looking through recently sold artworks by this artist, his drawings of the French countryside in pastel appear to be the most popular and are starting to command steady and respectable sums when they come on the market. His artistic training and command of this medium is plain to see. Lionel was an artist who could convey distance and perspective with ease and transport the viewer to this much-loved area of France - you can almost feel the heat and hear the rhythmic buzz of the cicadas. The dimensions below are for the frame - the art work measure approx. 30 cm high x 40 cm wide. Whenever possible Culvertons undertake the carriage of items within London and the home counties. Professional, competitive and trusted couriers and shipping companies are engaged for deliveries for the remainder of our customers. Smaller items, when instructed, will be carefully parcelled and securely sent by the carrier. We strive to accurately describe and illustrate our stock on the 'Selling Antiques' website. However, we understand that it is not always possible to judge from photographs how an item will look in the home or garden. For this reason, if notified within seven days from the date of delivery we offer a full refund (less any agreed carriage costs) once the item has been returned in the same condition as it left our premises.
