Description

A very sweet early 19th century Derby porcelain figure group of a cow and calf, decorated in gilt. Standing on an oval base with gilt band with a simple bocage behind. The calf is curled up at its mother's feet. Red painted Bloor mark, c.1830.
It measures 15cm (5 7/8") high, 10cm (3 7/8") long and 7cm (2 3/4") deep.
In very good condition; the bocage has lost most of its branches and there is a small area of repair / restoration to the trunk. The main figure group and base is fine bar some small chips to the cow's ears. The horns have been re-gilded but the porcelain underneath appears original. Minor handling wear, the surface is finely crazed as is usual but there is no discernible discolouration. Some minor kiln dust spotting around the base and tail.
