Description
Elegant Inlaid Mahogany Mantel Clock by Wray, Son & Perry, c.1900 This fine and delicate Victorian mantel clock is a prime example of the period’s elegance. Manufactured by Wray, Son & Perry of 38 New Street, Birmingham, the clock is presented in rich mahogany, enhanced with satinwood and ebony inlay, giving it a sophisticated look. The upper section of the clock features a shield-shaped case with the movement set into the wood. The original glass protects the enamel dial, which is adorned with Roman numerals and complemented by fine blued steel hands. The dial is marked with the maker’s name, reinforcing the authenticity of the piece. The lower section of the clock is rectangular and further embellished with exquisite inlay work. The clock rests upon elegant brass bun feet, completing its graceful appearance. Measuring approximately 23 cm in width, 8.5 cm in depth, and 22.5 cm in height, this clock is perfectly sized for display. To the reverse, the clock retains its original brass backplate, which can be removed to reveal the original cylinder movement—still in full working order and ticking as it should. The clock comes with its original key, making it a complete and functional piece.
