Description
This is a Franz Reuleaux designed enamelled and gilded glass champagne coupe for the Fritz Heckert glass house in Petersdorf, Germany and dating from the early 20th century, c1910. The glass shows Islamic influence and is from the Jodhpur range. The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 100+ years of use. The glass has a shallow cup-shaped bowl measuring 10 cm (4 inches) in diameter at the bowl rim. The glass has been blown in clear glass and then enamelled and gilded. The rim of the bowl is gilded above a band of blue enamel enhanced by gilded trailing foliage. The bulk of the bowl is gilded with a band of five-petal flower heads within diamond-shaped backgrounds of two alternating, different shades of green enamel, the gaps being enamelled in white and amethyst. The top of the stem is cut with six petal flutes, but the stem is plain as it descends towards the foot. The glass ends in a plain foot which measures 7.8 cm (3.1 inches) in diameter and displays a blue enamelled and gilded band to the top that complements the band under the rim. The glass is 18.2 cm (7.3 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration. Lead glass. It weighs in at 158 g. ( ~ 5 1/2 oz.). We sell through our own web site taking Paypal, bank transfer and debit/credit cards and ship worldwide. Internal Ref: 5970a
