Description

This is a beautiful antique shibayama plaque depicting three geishas in a garden dating from late 19th Century, circa 1880. The enamelled plaque is inlaid with hand carved bone to form the geisha and the lacquer is hand painted and gilded. The three young ladies are in traditional kimono dress and one carries a parasol, another has a fan in her hand. They walk beneath a large overhanging cherry blossom tree with and trees and pagoda buildings in the distance.
The panel is in excellent condition with no losses or restoration and is in a later smart black and gilt frame suits it beautifully.
This measures 38 cms by 31 cms overall.
