Description
Maritime Seascape Oil Painting George Frederick Harris (1856-1924) Rough Seas Brief Description:
This is a wonderful original 19th-century Oil on Board Seascape Painting depicting a beached sailing vessel in rough seas.
Painted during the Victorian period by the listed British artist George Frederick Harris (1856-1924).
The highly detailed image portrays a dramatic British coastline, with an ancient castle ruin at the top of the cliff, with a marvellous sunset on the horizon.
Below the tall cliffs is what appears to be a shipwrecked boat with damaged masts, surrounded by a flock of seagulls.
It is signed lower left corner, and it is mounted within the original and decorative two-tone gilt moulded frame.
Attached verso is a Label for Frost & Reed, London.
