Description
Gents 1950s New Old Stock Prisma automatic wrist watch. The watch has a 21 jewel Swiss automatic movement, a Felca 1560, which is working nicely. The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in super condition. The inside of the screw on case back has the brevet (patent) number 238872 which was for a 1945 patent in the name of John Simon, and related to a device for securing a watch movement in a case. John Simon was an ingenious inventor and pioneer of waterproofing watches during World War II. The back of this particular watch states that it is waterproof but, as with any vintage watches, it should be kept away from water and moisture. The lens looks good to the naked eye… light marking if viewed through a magnifying loupe, probably from the watch being in storage. The dial is signed Prisma, a brand name registered by several different companies. It is in beautiful condition with original dauphine shaped hands, centre seconds hand and outer minute markers. The watch has its original grey leather strap. The watch comes in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland). Please contact us regarding international shipping. All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch. We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations. Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers. We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
